KTM RC390 launched at Rs 2.05 lakh, RC200 at Rs 1.60 lakh

KTM’s highly anticipated supersport motorcycles the RC 390 and 200 have been launched in India. The RC 390 has been priced at Rs 2.05 Lakh, while the RC200 is priced at Rs 1.60 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The RC 390 and RC 200 are built on the existing Duke motorcycles and share their four-stroke, liquid cooled, single-cylinder engines with them.  This means the RC 390 develops 43bhp of power and 3.6kgm of torque. The RC 200 also boasts of identical power and torque figures as the 200 Duke, which is 25bhp of power and 2kgm of torque.

However, both these sporty looking motorcycles are heavier than their naked siblings by 8kgs because of the additional weight of the stylish new fairing and lights. Nonetheless, the RC will make for an invigorating sports bike as its revised chassis geometry and a sportier seating position has sharpened its dynamics without compromising on confidence.
So, KTM’s RC motorcycles offer entry level sportbike buyers a focussed set of motorcycles to choose from without breaking the bank.
Unless you happen to have been trapped under a rock for all last year, you will know this as KTM’s RC390. Test mules, race versions for the junior ADAC series (German racing series) and lots of spy snaps have whetted our appetite for this Austrian racing thoroughbred. A ridiculously fast engine in a supremely capable chassis and wrapped in a stylish full fairing, then likely to be offered at a sub-Rs 2.2 lakh price tag sounds incredible! So, here it is then, the most anticipated motorcycle of 2014.

The 373.2cc engine has been carried over virtually unchanged. The RC boasts the same horsepower and torque as the Duke and shares gearing too. This means, in India, the RC390 boasts 43.5bhp at 9000rpm and 3.57kgm of torque at 7000rpm.
