New Delhi: For the SUV lovers, automaker Ford has got some good news. As per media reports, the new Ford Endeavour SUV is likely to be launched in India by late next year.
The new SUV will be an upgraded version of Ford's widely selling Endeavour. The vehicle will compete against Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Pajero.
Reports also have it that the vehicle will be manufactured in Thailand and sold in India via the CKD route. This will be done to keep the vehicle price competitive. However the final assembly will be done at the Ford India Chennai facility.
The new Endeavour SUV might be available in two engine specifications--2.2 liter and 3.0 liter four cylinder diesel and might see some good changes in the interiors, however it will have the same seating capacity of 7 . It is also likely to be sold in 4 x 2 and 4 x 4 variants.
The pricing of the vehicle is expected to range between Rs 20 and Rs 25 lakh.
Ford India has reported 36 percent increase in total sales at 11,935 units in June this year. It had sold 8,771 units in the same month of last year, Ford India said in a statement.
Domestic sales were up 1.58 percent at 7,258 units in last month, as against 7,145 units in June last year.
The company said it exported 4,677 units last month.
