Scoop: Hyundai all set to launch Genesis in India

Hyundai is the second largest automobile manufacturer in the Indian market with a wide array of vehicles for every segment but one, the D-segment sedan, above the Sonata, to challenge the giants of Mercedes, Audi and BMW. Earlier reports suggested that Hyundai is planning to bring limited numbers of Genesis to India, and we have spotted a right hand drive Genesis in India.
Our sources in Chennai have sent us photographs of a Hyundai Genesis, bearing a Tamil Nadu number, standing at a dealership in Chennai. The car is expected to come through the CBU route and is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 40 lakh. The Genesis will arrive after the launch ofix25 compact SUV from Hyundai, which is expected to come in March 2015.
Under the hood, Genesis comes with two engine options - a 3.8 litre V6 engine capable of producing 311bhp power and a more powerful 5.0 litre V8 that produces 420 bhp of power. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. The Genesis is longer than the Mercedes E-class and that means better interior space in the car.
The Genesis will come loaded with premium features like a 720p HD display, iDrive like rotary controller, CO2 sensors for air-con and ventilation system and much more. Also, for the comfort of the driver, the Genesis will house a top-spec 16-way adjustable seats with rich quality interiors.
With the set of features and massive engines, Hyundai can easily rival the German giants. Though, the issue for Hyundai will always be the reluctance of Indian buyers for the brand name!
