Expect some impressive cars to show up at the Goodwood festival of speed every year and you will not be disappointed one bit. The 2014 edition is warming up its pistons very well too and helping it on its course is the RC F coupé. Lexus has announced that it will debut the RC F in the UK at Goodwood and it promises a V8 rumble fest.

The RC F gets a 5.0-litre V8 under the hood sending over 456PS to the rear wheels. Over 520Nm of torque takes the sportscar bang into BMW M4 territory. The RC F gets a 8-speed automatic that sends all that power to the rear axle to catapult it to a limited 270kmph top speed. The RC F weighs around 1800kg which is still about 250kg heavier than an M4 so the folks at Lexus must be banking on the extra output to give it a fighting chance.

The 8-speed Sports direct Shift transmission has three modes - standard, slalom and track much like BMW’s comfort, Sport and Sport+ settings that alters the way the gearbox performs. The RC F gets a carbon fibre roof, bonnet and rear wing to reduce weight much like most new sports cars are adopting to enhance performance. Lexus designers penned the lines of the RC F by drawing inspiration from the LFA that are especially pronounced on the bonnet air outlets and the cooling ducts.

Post its first UK showing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed between 26-29 June, the RC F will be launched in the UK by the end of this year.
