Toyota Etios Motor Racing Season 2 to kick off in July

Toyota Etios Motor Racing



After a successful first season, Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced today that they will return to the race track with Etios Motor Racing Trophy. Drivers will compete against each other in the second edition of the EMR Trophy which will be a part of the National Racing Championship. The EMR Trophy will have only two rounds this year and will coincide with the third and the fifth round of the National Racing Championship. The first round will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore on the 19th and 20th July. This will be the first time that the EMR Trophy will be held in Coimbatore. 

Commenting on the announcement, N. Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President - Marketing and Sales, TKM said, “Toyota introduced EMR in India in 2012 with an aim to promote motorsports at a grass root level and make motorsports more accessible and popular in India. The EMR platform has helped talented young racers develop their motoring skills, and further trained them to gain a competitive edge for their future. After the success of the inaugural EMR trophy last year, we are looking forward to the second edition of the trophy”.

The lineup for 2014 will be a mix of existing as well as new drivers. The inaugural EMR Trophy that was held at the Buddh International Circuit last year saw Diljith take top honours with Akhil Rabindra and Varun Anekar completing the rest of the podium places. 

Further, the Etios Motor Racing cars will make its rounds in select dealerships in South (Coimbatore and Kerala) alongside some contests that will give enthusiasts a chance to experience the EMR cars on the track.
