Hyundai ix25 unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show

The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV has officially made its public debut at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show. The South Korean automaker’s small SUV concept is targeted at the Chinese market, and the company hasn’t announced any plans to take this SUV model international yet.

Hyundai ix25 compact SUV borrows most of its styling cues from the current generation Hyundai ix35. The new SUV features a design based on the brand’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. The SUV is 4,270mm long, 1,780mm wide and 1,630mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,590mm.

The new SUV features sweptback headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a hexagonal shaped chrome grille, while its large bumper features aggressive lower front air-intakes, a set of fog lamps and a silver skid plate. The side profile is designed to appear large, while the rear-end gets wrap-around taillights, a spoiler with integrated brake lights and a large rear bumper with two inserts. Hyundai hasn’t revealed the interiors of its new SUV yet.

The Hyundai ix25 will be equipped with a Nu 2.0 engine. The South Korean automaker hasn't announced a diesel engine option yet, but reports suggest that Hyundai’s 1.6-litre common rail diesel engine is likely to run under the hood of this SUV model.

Hyundai has plans to launch its ix25 in the second half of 2014. This new model will be the South Korean carmaker’s fourth SUV in the Chinese market alongside the Hyundai ix25, Hyundai ix35, Hyundai Santa Fe and the Hyundai Grand Santa Fe. The carmaker plans to secure a leading position in the country’s growing SUV market with the launch of this compact SUV.
