Volkswagen Beetle GRC race car revealed

Volkswagen has officially pulled the wraps off its latest creation, the Beetle GRC, ahead of its public debut at the Red Bull Global Rallycross. This new car has been developed by Volkswagen in collaboration with Andretti Autosport.

The new car resembles a third-generation Volkswagen Beetle, and has been built ground-up as a GRC car. The exterior of the car has been outfitted with an aggressive front fascia, widebody fenders, and a large rear wing.

Other notable highlights include high-performance brakes, an upgraded suspension, limited-slip differentials and 17-inch alloy wheels with Yokohama competition tyres.

A 1.6-litre four-cylinder TSI turbocharged engine runs under the hood of the Volkswagen Beetle GRC delivering 544PS of power. It is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission and an all-wheel-drive system which enables the car to sprint from 0-100kmph in just 2.1 seconds.

The Volkswagen Beetle GRC will be driven by Tanner Foust and Scott Speed, and it will compete under the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross banner
